How to open and verify a Paypal Nigeria account using UBA Mastercard

I've initially written a post announcing the fact that Paypal has officially opened its doors to Nigeria bit one thing a lot of people have been asking is on how to actually open an account. I though that should be easy enough for them but anyway, this post is just to share with you how I opened and verified my Paypal Nigeria account using my UBA Masteracard.

The UBA Mastercard I used was basically a debit card that was linked to my savings account and it is in Naira. You can use this card with Paypal or any other Nigerian debit card that has been activated for Paypal. Not all Nigerian issued cards were working as at the time I used mine but I think they should be working now. Some people also said they've successfully used GTB Mastercard to verify their Paypal Nigeria account.

How to do it

- First visit the Paypal Nigeria website at www.paypal.com/ng
- Click to register for an account
- Enter your normal email address
- Choose a password
- Re-enter that password
- Enter your personal details such as your full Names, date of birth, Nationality and street address
- Enter your Zip code and this is the same as the postal code. See Nipost website if you are not sure.
- Enter your phone number in Nigeria
- Choose to link your Mastercard
- Click the Continue box
- Enter the security code displayed in the challenge box
- Continue to adding your UBA Mastercard details
- Enter the full card number, expiry date, 3 digit CSC code at the back and submit the form

The card details will be accepted if successful and UBA will debit your account within 24 hrs.

When you get the sms alert, just look at the Paypal transaction for something like PP*1234*CODE and you will use those numbers to verify you account.

When you have gotten the transaction details from UBA or your bank. just log into your Paypal account and go to verify account. You will be given a box to enter the code, enter it and your account will be verified.

With your new Paypal Nigeria account, you will now be able to make payments globally on any website that accepts Paypal payments. You will be able to pay for online services as well as shop online on websites that accept Paypal payments and the amount will normally be debited to your bank account without the need to be providing your card details anytime you want to make payments online.

Paypal is a safer way of making online payments because it eliminates the need for entering your card details anytime you want to checkout. All you need to do is log into your verified Paypal Nigeria account and approve the payment anytime you are checking out with Paypal.
Since your card has already been linked, you will no longer have to provide your card details anytime you want to make payments online on websites that accept Paypal payments.

Hello my people, the man said the real truth, likewise GTB mastercard is working with the paypal service, just link up your account to paypal, and also you can pay online with mastercard, visa, and verve card of first bank!!! Whenever you want to pay online and you notice that the mode of the payment enable mastercard or visa or verve... Like card type:
Card number:
Card holder name;
Card expiring date:
Card security number;
Any websites that demands those details, is so easy you can pay off with our details

Please try to add your credit card at a later time. We apologize for this inconvenience.''

You should try it again later. The problem is not with your card but with paypal's system. So try at a later time.

You can't receive payments with Paypal Nigeria yet but only with a foreign Paypal account. Paypal doesn't allow Nigerians to receive payments yet excepting making them.

I don't think that works yet. The closest I've heard of is mobile money which allows people to pay with their mobile phones but the account has to be funded first of all with cash before making payments.

No you can't. If you want to receive payments by Paypal, then get a US Paypal or other foreign Paypal account.

Thanks for the information but, at the back of the mastercard there are 7 digit numbers, 4 on one side and three on the rightside. just a little bit away from those 4 digits on the whytish seal at the back of the card. Which one?

The one with 3 digits are your CVV code and you can use it for online payments.

I don't think they acept Verve cards. Visa and Mastercard are what I know that works.

If you have a US paypal account, then you would be able to receive Paypal payments into it but for that, you need to be resident in the USA and have a US IP address.

You can try using a dollar card or talking to your bank to activate your Naira mastercard for Paypal.
