GT Instant savings account without an id card

For the many people, mostly students who have little or no documentation for opening a normal basic account in Nigeria and would want to open one with GTBank, there is hope with GTBank's Instant savings account.

Opening a GT Instant savings account is one of the fastest ways of opening an account with GTBank as far as I know and it doesn't require that you present an id card or proof of address before opening one.

I guess as a result of the new policy of cashless banking and banking for the unbanked, more and more people have now being given the opportunity to operate a savings account without all the usual documentation that normal savings account usually require as in the past.

With GTbank's Instant savings account, you can open a savings account from day one and be able to save and withdraw money from your account.

The benefits of having an Instant savings account with GTbank are numerous and some of these includes earning interest on your savings, providing security for your money, be able to use an ATM card and so on.

Things required:

The basic things required for this type of account are a passport photo and your cash(e.g. N2000). You will then fill an application form at the bank and sign it.

Conditions with GT Instant savings account
=============
There are some conditions with this account and this includes the following:
- You may only deposit a maximum of N20,000 at a time
- You can only save a maximum of N200,000 in your account

If you want to save more money or have some of the conditions removed, then you would need to upgrade to a normal savings account and that would require that your provide more documents.

I think this is a good innovation and would help people save money with GTbank without much stress. No need to go to the bank today and come back tomorrow with this type of account.

I believe it does. All bank products tend to come with free internet banking service

sir,i opened an instant account with 0 naira and was told that my acc number will be sent to me,now that the maximum deposit is just 20000 and my salary is above 49000 what will i do so my salary can be paid into the account

It's simple. Upgrade it to a full savings account and for that you would need more documentation like an id card and proof of address. The other option may be to tell your employer to pay your salary in bits of N20k each.

Sir,i open GTinstant account with 2000 a week and i was giving my ATM card which i activerted and diposted 9000 naira but,they started sending text that 500 was diducted and letter again 25 naira was diducted,Sir I need to what's wrong with my money.

There are some charges associated with using a GTBank savings account such as ATM associated charges, sms alerts, tax on interest on savings and so on. The alert you received will contain some other details that will give you an idea of what the charges are about. If you can post the entire message you received, maybe I can help explain it.

You can still open an account with those things that you have. Just tell them you want to open a GT instant savings account

A passport photograph is the only requirement needed for an instant account after filling the form. An amount of #500 will be deducted from your account for your new debit card plus #25 for GeNs on your first deposit. Other banking options are available such as internet banking,quickteller and can later be upgraded to a regular savings account(to enjoy an unlimited service) at any gtbank branch by providing a means of identification. Terms and conditions apply tho.

I don't think it's free. Issued cards are normally deducted from your bank account balance

You can call them on the phone to inquire. Maybe you should also wait for about 1 or 2 weeks before your account number becomes available. Nowadays, banks normally verify customers before giving them an account number.

It probably means that your account has been opened and that is your account number. You can start making deposits into it to save money.

Maybe the card has not been activated yet. Read the instructions on the card. Have you tried changing your PIN using the default PIN? If you still have problems, try revisiting your branch and ask customer service for help.

A statement of account was sent to me today and i saw saving account on it. Does it means that the account has been change to normal saving account or is still the same with instant account.

I think If you've saved more than N200,000 in the account, then it has been upgraded to a normal savings account.

You need a valid id card(voter, national or driving license), passport photographs, utility bill. Those are the ones I know.

sir, I opened an instant account with Gtbank 2years ago and I admit that I have violated all the rules and regulations. I am now sanctioned by the bank to provide my documents for upgrading before I can withdraw or else I will have to terminate the account. The thing I have no ID card and am really in need of the money. I ask to close down my account but I was told that is not possible.

You can also open an account online through facebook. For your case, you can still try visiting the bank and asking them why you've not received your account details.

You should ask them why. I think you may need to open a regular savings account rather than an instant savings account

If your account has a maximum deposit limit of 20k per transaction, then you will not be able to receive the 65k at once until you upgrade your account.
